Bamberg Ehrhardt Middle School

“After many interviews with various qualified architectural firms, it was decided by an impartial committee that the job be offered to AAG. From that day forward there has never been any doubt that we made the absolute best decision that was possible. All of the company’s personnel were first class… with unsurpassed dedication and commitment to the job at hand.

“I am quite certain that there is no finer firm than AAG.”

PROJECT NARRATIVE

The Bamberg Ehrhardt Middle School campus had been in operation for more than forty years without significant improvements. Extensive renovation was needed to buildings systems, envelope, and the interior learning environment. New classrooms, administration areas, and an exterior facade upgrade revives this campus into a true community school. To ensure this school’s continued effective operations in the coming years, the initial master-planning process led to new circulation paths, new classroom additions, and conversion of existing spaces into new functions. New grade level classrooms, a computer lab, and a special education classroom were added. Existing classroom wings were reorganized to provide expanded administration functions, such as a guidance suite, teacher workrooms, clinic, and larger shared classrooms. Close attention was given to the school’s community presence. At the new front addition, pitched roofs and covered porches clearly identify the main school entry. Parapets were extended vertically to screen rooftop mechanical units. Large glazing invites natural light into the interior. The end result is a completely new identity to the school with better, safer, and compliant spaces.

PROJECT COST & DELIVERY
