ANDREW HIGH SCHOOL
Georgetown County School District | Andrews, South Carolina

PROJECT NARRATIVE

Andrews High School campus was in need of expansion to support a growing athletic program as well as renovations to the existing high school building. The scope included the
addition of a new standalone gymnasium building, renovations to the stadium complex and renovations to the cafeteria, welding labs, auditorium, and weight room, among others.

The design added a new 10,000 sf auxiliary gymnasium on the campus with a concessions
area, locker room and support spaces, as well as a defined entrance to the athletic complex
across from the new expanded soccer fields. On the stadium side, for a more distinctive
entrance from the road, a new stadium entrance with new ticket booth, concessions and restroom buildings were added to create a formal plaza and gathering space in front of
the stadium, with the same cohesive design language reflected across the campus. A new
parking area with a better vehicular circulation loop and booster club were also added to
the site.

Within the existing high school, the renovations included upgrades to the existing cafeteria,
expansion of the weight room area and welding labs, the addition of new outdoor storage buildings, new HVAC and fire alarms throughout the campus, upgrading of all group
restrooms, and finish upgrades to specific areas within the high school.

PROJECT COST & DELIVERY

This project followed a CM at Risk project delivery method. The budget for the project
was $10.4 Million. The project came in under budget on bid day and the school district
is reviewing making additional site improvements, including additional tennis courts and walking paths across the campus for students.

PROJECT RESULTS

This project, with its varying scopes, was completed in August 2019.
