Parone Memorial Stadium
PARONE MEMORIAL STADIUM
RICHLAND SCHOOL DISTRICT TWO | COLUMBIA, SOUTH CAROLINA
PROJECT NARRATIVE
The Parone Memorial Stadium and athletic complex is located on the Spring Valley High School campus, however, it serves two high schools in the district. A monumental design approach was taken to give the complex its own, unique identity. A new pedestrian plaza surrounds the stadium with controlled access through a new entry arcade leading to a pavilion and overlook. Circulation is dramatically improved to both the home and visitor stands. New public facilities replace the existing restrooms and concession areas with new press boxes above. New field houses, storage buildings, and team rooms are added. Additional upgrades and site circulation measures tie the athletic facility to the existing campus while distinguishing it as a separate “district” athletic complex.
